Guidance for February - 2
The second month of the year initiates a flow. It is still a very internal flow.
But something is leaving the stagnation and rigidity that we may have felt in January. In February we celebrate the seasonal celebration of Imbolc, which is the symbol of the young girl. We celebrate the awakening of life, the breaking forth from the seed. It is still the cold that seems to hold us bound, but deep in the earth life is emerging. The waters of life begin to flow gently. The smallest and most delicate little roots that sprout from the bursting seed long and stretch for this water. With this longing and stretching for life comes growth.
The seed has cracked open. What we still hoarded in our inner treasures in January begins to expand in time with Candlemas, Imbolc. While spring, and with it the firepower and action, is not yet here, something begins to break free from the heaviness.
The second month teaches us to renew our innocence. Imbolc celebrates the wild, untamed young girl. She is one with nature and can lose herself for hours in contemplation and dreaming in the wild world. She is not sleeping, because she is dreaming. She believes everything is possible and lives with her roots in the mystical, magical reality. This is where the child draws its power and strength. It has not yet "awakened" to our earthly rules and this is precisely the reason why its heart blossoms.
This month, at the beginning of the year, allow yourself to let this inner child dream again. It is up to you to give in to your longing and realise that what you long for most is to be found in the here and now. The healing message for you is that your belonging is in your longing. Do you long for the wilderness? For the pure, raw direct aliveness you experienced as a child? For ecstasy and falling into the moment and into love utterly?
This longing is only there because you recognise this state as a part of you. Realise that this longing in you is infinite. What could truly fulfil this longing in you? The answer is simple: infinity.
Reclaim your innocence. Allow yourself to dream. Allow yourself to lget lost in the wild world. The key to the gate into this wild garden of your aliveness lies hidden in your longing. Discover it and guard it. Keep your inner child alive and protected in your heart. You are an adult now and you can take care of it. Keeping it alive does not mean being naive. It means being wise.
With time, suffering arises as well. We fill our inner lake of innocence with all kinds of harmful thoughts and traumatizing experiences. Heaviness, darkness, feeling cut off, depression seem to be part of our human experience. It is not a matter of simply cutting these parts off from us, because that would be hopeless. It is often in the darkness that jewels lie buried. But how do we maneuver through this darkness when it makes our hearts heavy? So much is stored in our subconscious. Know about your inner lake, which absorbs everything and consciously decide when it is time to let go of something. Maybe sometimes you don't know exactly where you belong and where your journey is going, but if you at least know again and again where it doesn't go on, where your aliveness seems to dry out, then you are already very close to your truth. Find empowerment in your “no” in this month and choose life. Initiate yourself in this process of awakening life.
Suggestions for the month:
~ Go to a water near you and let your inner child play!
~ Meditate on the mantra: Ong Sohung (“I am what I long for”).
~ The mantra of the month is also Ang Sang Wahe Guru (“Every part of me, every fibre, every limb, is in the original state of ecstasy and intimacy with the inner core and light of original being.”). It is a state known as non-separative extension.
~ It is also a good month to cleanse your body temple. Let your diet serve you.
Your outer temple, in which you live, can also use a clearing in this month.
~ For certain things, such as clothing and other items, ask yourself the simple question: Yes or No?
Be brave and clean out!
