Womb Wisdom - Inner Summer: Ovulation

The vastness we exude allows us to be who we are in all our aspects, and also becomes an invitation for others to show themselves fully - and to truly meet.

Magnetism & Fertility

The Sacred Time of Fertility falls within a window of about 7 days - 5 days before we ovulate and 2 days after. During this time, about 15 to 20 eggs mature in the follicular vesicles in each of our ovaries and the production of the hormones estrogen and progesterone reaches its peak. Then, 10 to 16 days after the first bleeding, actual ovulation occurs: our strongest egg is released from the ovary. During this process, the wall of the follicle bursts and the egg travels through the fallopian tubes into the uterus. In rare cases, multiple eggs may be released, possibly giving birth to multicellular twins or triplets. The egg that was not fertilized in our womb dies within the next 24 hours. About two weeks after ovulation, the dead eggs become our monthly blood flow. Our bleeding is a cyclical psychological, emotional and physical renewal in which lies the power to access the wisdom of continual dying and rebirthing.

The relatively short ovulation can be felt by the so-called mid pain, which doesn't need to be painful, but is also described as a slight to strong pulling in the lower abdomen, occurring either once or several several times in a row over a period of several hours. Also, our cervical mucus changes during this time. Typically, our outflow becomes lighter in color, more fluid, and more viscous - when we hold it between our fingers, it contracts. Our now gliding bodily fluids adjust to welcome and guide sperm, increasing the egg's chances of being fertilized - and usually our desire for love and our sense of pleasure increase too.

It is a creative time when your body prepares to receive new life. Usually our receptivity and increased hormonal levels tend to turn us more outgoing and sociable. We feel confident, curious and adventurous. Most often, this is a time when we naturally seek out the company of others, and especially from the opposite sex. We feel especially desirable, beautiful and seen.

So it is no wonder that this time is often associated with the Full Moon - when His Sun light fully illuminates Her whole Body and we can admire her beauty and be enchanted by her allure. Special forces of attraction are at work here in a play of polarities. And we are invited to let ourselves be guided by the natural radiance of our plenitude, and to surrender ourselves completely to our very own vibrance. The vastness we exude allows us to be who we are in all our aspects, and also becomes an invitation for others to show themselves fully - and to truly meet.

Even though the body actually cools down by about 0.2 degrees just before ovulation, many report a feeling of "getting hot" during this period - of a lively, blazing inner fire. Just as in summer the living beings play their love game and celebrate life under the fire of the sun, in the inner summer of our body, a ripened fruit is again waiting to be touched and makes itself available to life to go on.

Our energy moves outward and our bodies crave movement and activity. We are especially bold, motivated and focused. So these are good times to communicate outwardly, to nurture relationships and communities, to invite and support our beloved ones, to play with children, to move forward efortlessly with our projects, and of course to enjoy lovemaking with joy and pleasure to the fullest. Since we are naturally and magically magnetic now, it is also the best time to pursue our deepest desires and ask for what we long for. Our whole being radiates a big "YES" for life, and in our receptivity we easily get involved in shenanigans and new encounters. The mature, seductive woman plays hand in hand with her inner child - full of innocent sensuality she savors her raw life force.

Reflections

Do I surrender to the play of polarities in the company of the opposite sex in ease and playfulness?

Am I receptive to the pleasures and gifts of life?

If I feel tired and unmotivated - Looking back to the beginning of my cycle: Did I give myself enough care time while I was bleeding or did I rather push myself through?

IMPULSES

*Honor the creative power of your magnetism and the wild innocence of your being with flirts and love games.

*Express the sides of yourself that you might otherwise keep hidden and feel shy to embody.

Womb Wisdom

The monthly blood of a women* is one of the most sacred connection to the union of spirit and matter that is realized in the Vessels of Creation that She is. Her Inner River is the ever returning movement of spirited natural forces in Her body temple, it is the Source of Her intimacy with the mysteries of Life and Death. The moments of her inner moon flow, ovulation and love making are portals of magic that unites Her body with the realms of spirit.

We share both inspirational wisdom to honor the Sacredness of our inner cycles, as well as scientific knowledge to reclaim a deeper understanding of our bodies, sovereign contraception, conscious conception & sacred sexuality. As an inherent part of nature and its seasons and its moons we refer to the different phases of our cycle as our inner seasons (winter as our blood time, summer as our ovulation time…) and inner moons inner (dark moon as the bleeding time, full moon as the ovulation time…) . This doesn’t mean that we are “naturally supposed” to bleed in the time of the New Moon, but allows us to reflect our inner movements through the mirror of the movements of nature.

Each body is different and each life journey is an individual one. Some women have a regular cycle, some don’t. Some women have a short cycle, some have a long one. Many factors like big changes in our lives, nutrition, travels etc. may have an influence on our inner realms and remind us to listen to the inner voices in each specific moment of time. Let us always remember: The body never lies. Applied in our daily lives with our own intuition and body wisdom, these references can guide us towards a deeper connection with the natural forces that always move through us.
